Discussion Questions – John 4:1-15 – Are You Thirsty?

1. When you are thirsty what do you want to drink? What makes it satisfying?

2. Jesus risked his reputation to talk to the Samaritan woman with a bad reputation. What does that teach us about how God values people?

3. The woman was surprised that Jesus spoke to her. Have you ever been surprised by the way God reached you or someone you know?

4. In the passage, Jesus offers “living water.” What do you think that means in your own words?

5. Jeremiah 2:13 says God’s people turned away from the fountain of living water to dig “cracked cisterns.” What are some things people chase after today that never truly satisfy?

6. How can something good like spending time with family or working hard become unhealthy (bad)?

7. Jesus’ living water leads to eternal life. How does that promise encourage you in your daily struggles or longings?

8. Who in your life is “thirsty”? How can you point them toward Jesus’ living water?
